21 Days of Prayer and Purpose

Day 13

1 Samuel 1:9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord. 10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore. 11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no rasor come upon his head.

A commitment with purpose that would change the world. That is what Hannah accomplished with her prayer. She had seen the blessings of motherhood on others but she herself could not partake of their joy. Having children was an impossibility for her. She knew the shame and embarrassment it must have brought to her husband and that also added to the desire to be fulfilled in her life.

She prayed! She laid it all on the alter. Holding nothing back. Giving all she had. She prayed! For whatever reason she grasped a hold on the potential and the possibilities of God hearing and answering. She prayed! And God heard her prayer. God looked at her desire and agreed that it was the right time and the right place. No doubt she had asked of Him before but this time God moved.

What a powerful testimony to the perfect timing of God as well as His desire to move on behalf of those who ask. As Hannah prayed and believed in her words... in an impossible situation the hand of God simply moved in and she would have a child. As it turns out, God heard her entire prayer so when the time came Hannah had to follow through with her vow and she brought her child Samuel to the temple and there he was given to the work of the Lord. She prayed and He gave! Pray somebody... God will move!
