21 Days of Prayer and Purpose

Day 19

1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Nonstop. Uninterrupted. Continuous. These words of description are very difficult for us to truly comprehend. So much in our daily lives is established on the moment. We make plans and we attempt to be productive until something comes along and pulls us from our plans. A phone call, a messy kitchen, a text from a coworker. At that point we may or may not get back to the plans we made to spend time with God.
It is a fact that choices are made in our lives and then we must face the blessings or the curse of those choices. Not that they are terrible or wicked. But choices that have deterred us from the desires we established in spending time with God in prayer. Many times we forget that The Creator wants to hear from us. His voice is so very ready to speak. He delights in spending time with us. So why is it a challenge to really “pray without ceasing”?

Explanation... we cannot maintain a posture of laying flat on the floor in prayer perhaps all day long. What we can do is develop a love and a desire to be with God in all of our daily activities. Making time with purpose to spend it with Him. Set your alarm if you need to. Set goals of every hour stopping and speaking a thankful thought. Habits will form that will serve you for a lifetime. As you pray without allowing the events of the day to override your passion, you will notice a life full of power and purpose. PRAY.... and don’t stop!
