21 Days of Dedication

Day #19

Scripture:
Galatians 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Point:

Laws are put into place for different reasons. Some laws protect people and properties. Other laws protect written laws that have been accepted as the way to operate. Then there are laws of nature and science… things that happen with or without human interaction. Suffice it to say that laws in general have specific purposes and are to be followed and obeyed in order to keep the peace and harmony in life.

When we speak of the laws of God… how do we even understand His parameters for the laws He instituted. Scripture does say that His ways and His thoughts are above humanities. The Word also says that all scripture was given by God as His Spirit moved on man. So, the Laws of God concerning “Love” are ones that we must look to Him for clarification. The letter to the struggling church of Galatia was received with this explanation. All of the law of God is completed in one thought… “Love your nieghbor as you love yourself”.

Is that even possible in our current culture? Are we indeed in a place where we can grasp the “law” that we are encouraged to understand… Humans love themselves. Provide for themselves. Protect themselves. It is also a law of nature to do so. So as we write today in our prayer journals, I implore you to remind yourself just what it means by Gods law… to love your nieghbor as you love yourself. Remember that love is still an answer for much of our worlds problems. Let us love and grow together.
